Soil Requirements

Bottle gourd grows best in loose, well-draining, and nutrient-rich soil.
Recommended soil mix:

• Garden/Red Soil – 40%
• Vermicompost – 40%
• Coco Peat – 20%
  Add a handful of Neem Cake to each container to prevent soil pests.

Container / Bed Specification

• Use grow bags or pots with minimum 12-inch depth
• Recommended grow bags: 18 × 18 inches or bigger
• Can also be grown directly in open ground

Sowing Instructions

• Soak seeds in water for 8–10 hours before sowing for better germination
• Sow seeds 1 inch deep
• Keep 1–2 seeds per pit
• Maintain spacing of 60–90 cm between plants
• Water regularly but avoid waterlogging

Plant Care

• Requires 5–6 hours of direct sunlight
• Provide a trellis or support for healthy vine growth
• Spray Neem Oil regularly to control pests
• Add compost every 15–20 days to maintain soil fertility

• Bottle gourd is ready for harvest in 45–60 days after sowing
• Harvest when fruits are tender and light green
